Professional & Personal info

From a young age I was involved in projects beyond my comprehension. My father was an aerospace engineer who was always involved in building things for the NASA space program.  I helped. I was always fascinated with the building and fabrication industries and became educated and certified in many different skills, all in order to continue my professional education and personal growth. I became a certified heavy equipment welder, a class 1 repairmen and metal fabricator at 19. Before that I was the solo maintenance engineer for a private country club in Rancho Santa Fe, for two years. I designed and built LED lighting technology for GM and have traveled the world many times exploring more than 40 countries. I became a state licensed contractor in the 90's and have never had a legal action or complaint against my number. My father and I built a charity that has so far constructed over 1000 concrete block homes and 27 communities for the poor. The program continues to grow to this day.

General Contractor, Stone Mason and Landscape Contractor

1992 - present  -  CA #744217  (B, C-27 inactive, C-29 unactivated)

Over 40 years ago I started building all types of projects. Clients of all types have hired me to build from scratch or rebuild historic projects. Swimming Pool awards I received in the mid 90's, motivated me to go get my state contractors license. I have built just about everything over the years. Home Additions, Outdoor Rooms, Patio Spas, Buildings, Ranch Properties, Mountain Lodges, I helped on several Hi-Rise Buildings, built private Lakes and Ponds, designed and built stone manufacturing facilities, worked in rock quarries, manufacturing factories, heavy equipment repair business, and anything else. I have owned several CNC fabrication shops over the years as well. After opening my stone business I had lots of masonry contractors asking me to teach them how to hang heavy architectural stone. I became a masonry teacher and continue to teach and consult to this day.

Fact: In all the years of being a contractor in California, I have never had any legal actions or formal complaints against my CSLB contractors license !

Solana Architectural StoneOwner

1999 - 2012

I was installing a lot of Mexican Cantera stone fountains on my jobs and wanted to get more involved. I had into problems sourcing good quality architectural stone, so I traveled to Mexico with my engineer father to find a source. I opened my own facilities in Mexico to streamline the manufacturing. Mexican limestone became another stone that was highly desirable to the custom home clients. My company became known as one of the premier companies in the industry.

Eventually I lost a few jobs because I did not offer other types of stone. I went across China looking for stone and artists with chisels. I traveled over 5500 miles and visited over 55 factories in 26 cities. I found a master carver with world class skills and an 800 person crew.  Once the economy fell apart, and most of my customers were out of business, I took over a failing precast cement company and it was also swallowed my the economy. I took on small jobs for years just to keep the channels open. Our Mexican facility is continually active.
